I was concerned about fit and color match since the original toilet and tile were so old. Other reviewers made comments about perfect match on color and how well the unit fit their application. Well, the color was a perfect match and the unit fit the old commode perfectly. Easy to install in minutes and really made a world of difference when I got rid of the white seat that was being used. Now the bathroom looks just as it did almost fifty years ago. A bonus for us was the construction of the unit was much better than the one it replaced. I believe this unit will last many, many years. The packaging was wonderful and the seat was in perfect shape with a beautiful, shiny finish. It installed easily and the hinges have a rubber gripper part to keep the seat from wriggling loose with use. The plastic of the seat is thick and heavy, more so than you would expect from such an inexpensive toilet seat - another pleasant surprise. We are on the heavy side and this seat doesn't give or feel flimsy at all, in fact it's quite comfortable. Having replaced the seat before with no problem, I went to several home centers, builders supplys, and hardware stores only to find that only white or bone color toilet seats are currently available. Even by special order I could not match the 1970s American Standard blue and nearly succumbed to a specialty website that made no guarantee of color match, when I thought to check Amazon first. Amazon had it at half the price with free S&H so I took a chance and I am most pleased that I did. The seat's color is a dead-on match to the blue American Standard porcelain and its plastic material is durable and easy to clean. I am delighted with my find and absolutely pleased with the product and price. Most importantly, it matches the nearly extinct blue color requirement exactly. |
